Skateboard Superstars
A skateboarding documentary that has been out of production for almost twenty years, this one is a true gem. From the very moment the music starts the whole thing screams cheese, so pull up your knee high socks and dust off your fishtail board with the flourescent paint job... it's EIGHTIES TIME!
Features Christian Hosoi (vert superstar) Rodney Mullen (his part starts at around 7 minutes), Steve Rocco and plenty of others.

I respect the fact that all of us skaters today have our roots with these guys, but god damn the 80s were gay! That guy from New York has to be the biggest fruit I've ever seen (the one talking about running over business men).

Im sure Rodney Mullen does the narration for it, there's hints about it on the flatland bit and the skater in new york is so funny, "yeh skaters are gonna have like armour and fly jet boards"

Hey, I grew up in the 80's and had the chance to ride Del Mar, McGill's in Carlsbad, Tony Hawk's Fallbrook ramp, Crest Ramp, Swamp Pool, Linda Vista(The old Great Skate Escape Video ramp) and Houston Skate Ranch. Things were way different then. The keyhole pool in Del Mar was not smooth at all and different transitions all around. Today, the ramps are perfect. Backyard pools had like 5 and 6 foot transitions at best. This stuff was hard to ride and very few skate parks were around. I live in San Diego and now there is a park less than 1/4 mile from my house. There's a reason why skateboarding is what it is today, it's called the past!!!

I have this VHS tape, and used to watch it all the time when I got it as a christmas gift in the 80's or 1990ish. I lived in Oklahoma at the time, and all I wanted to do was move to california and skate. I was very young when this came out, and even then I could recognize the cheese factor, but the more I watched it the more I appriciated it, now I consider it to be one of the classic skate films of the era. (Along with Hocus Pocus) Sadly, my vhs tape got 1/2 recorded over with a golf game around about 1993 when I made the mistake of letting my step brother borrow it for the weekend. I have been looking around for it ever since so that I can relive the days when skating was just about having fun and hanging with your friends (and maybe getting into some riff raff here and there). Thanks for posting this! Skateboard Superstunts Rulez!
